I decided to work with Jim at Chicago In Shape to add muscle mass and definition to my body and it's working! I am seeing great results over the first 16 weeks, even though I am only able to train one time per week! He gives me homework to follow. He has also educated me on a much improved diet and the benefits of hydration and limited caffeine use. I'm bigger, stronger, more conditioned and hearing compliments from people all the time. At 26, I'm learning how to build a great body and improve my overall health and wellness!

I have worked with Jim since the Summer of 2011. I was recovering from very debilitating, chronic low back pain. I had be advised that surgery was my only choice to relieve the pain, due to disc degeneration and stenosis. I used some alternative therapies to re-hydrate the disc in my back and did clinical physical therapy. I had about a 65% reduction in pain, but did not feel very strong or have great endurance while walking any distance. Unlike other trainers I have worked with, Jim has strengthened me " from the inside out "... serious core strengthening! I am mostly pain free and my walking endurance has increased tremendously. Jim is a detailed oriented trainer that has progressed me safely and very effectively, teaching me to listen to my body and focus on meaningful movements. I highly recommend Jim at Chicago In Shape! TRAINER'S NOTE - Tony is demonstrating a more advanced move called a " Bosu Squat Curl ". Tony was progressed to this more challenging movement with various other exercises to be sure it could be executed safely & effectively.

Jim holds a B.S. degree from Indiana University and has been certified as a Health Fitness Instructor by the American College of Sports Medicine. Jim is currently certified as a Personal Fitness Trainer by the American Council on Exercise - ACE. Jim founded Chicago In Shape in 1993 to share his knowledge and help others commit to a healthy, rewarding lifestyle. Since then, Jim has helped a wide variety of individuals achieve their personal best.
Jim worked with Northwestern Memorial Hospital as a Lifestyle Coach for the Diabetes Prevention Program - DPP: A five year national research study that proved the numerous health benefits of losing weight through improved nutrition and consistent, intelligent exercise. The results of this powerful research into the benefits of exercise and diet modification are documented in the New England Journal of Medicine.
Continuing education is an essential part of being a great fitness professional. Jim regularly attends professional seminars and workshops to stay current with all the latest developments in the fitness industry. In the Summer of 2011, he launched GeoGym, in order to give various options to people trying to get fit and have fun doing it. - PLEASE SEE THE LINK BELOW FOR MORE INFO.
Jim also walks the walk! He models a healthy lifestyle, by engaging in regular exercise, eating a healthy diet, and works towards balance between his personal and professional life. He can been seen riding his bike through the streets of Chicago or up and down the lake front. He enjoys, inline skating, tennis (needs to work on that back hand), throwing the football or baseball or Frisbee and numerous other activities. He encourages his clients and friends alike to think of themselves as ACTIVE people.
